What is a PARS ?
PARS is the Pre-Arrival Review System developed by Canada Customs which allows for release information to be processed before goods arrive at the border
How does it work?
The exporter completes the customs documents showing the estimated time and date of arrival at the border (and carriers PARS barcode).
The exporter then sends the customs documentation to the broker so that a PARS release package can be completed and forwarded to Canada Customs before the goods arrive at the border.
Driver presents the bar-coded document to Customs officials where it is scanned and is provided a release status.
Documents required for PARS
- Estimated time and date of arrival of goods at the border
- Copy of invoices
- Original copy of any required permits
